Central Perk was a coffee shop frequented by the six main protagonists of the TV series “Friends”. It was situated in New York City’s Greenwich Village, in the same apartment block as Monica’s apartment. It was where they spent much of their free time conversing.
For those who want to explore the sets of Friends, there is now The FRIENDS Experience, created by Warner Bros and Superfly X. The Little Owl, which served as the inspiration for Central Perk, is actually located in Greenwich Village.

We’re sorry to hear that you’re disappointed that there is no Friends Studio Tour in LA that would allow you to visit all your favourite Friends sets from the show. While there may not be a tour like that available, we hope you’re still able to enjoy your time in LA and all it has to offer!
While Central Perk exists solely on a Los Angeles soundstage, the space that would house the corner-side café below the building where Monica, Rachel, Chandler, and Joey lived is very much real. Little Owl opened in May 2006, just two years after one of the most popular television series of all time aired its finale.
Where is the fountain in Friends located
The fountain around which the six pull shapes in hats and turtlenecks in the opening credits is on the Warner Brothers Ranch, on a lot called Park Boulevard. The lot is meant to resemble Boston.

Is Central Perk still in New York?
In 2014, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the sitcom Friends, Warner Brothers opened a pop-up Central Perk coffee shop in New York. This was inspired by the coffee shop that appeared in the show. The pop-up shop was a big hit, and since then Warner Brothers has made Central Perk appearances at various events and locations. Now, Warner Brothers is opening a permanent Central Perk coffee shop, which will sell Friends-themed coffee and merchandise. This is sure to be a popular spot for Friends fans!
Although Friends stopped filming almost 20 years ago, many of the New York filming locations remain unchanged. Friends was primarily filmed inside a studio in Los Angeles, but all the outside shots in the city are real places you can visit. Central Perk, the coffee shop where the friends hung out, is located at 199 Lafayette St in Manhattan. The apartment building where Monica and Rachel lived is located at 90 Bedford St in Greenwich Village. The building used for exterior shots is now a condo building, but you can still see the famous balcony where Ross yelled at Rachel.
