Why is ESPN closed in Disney World
We are sorry to announce that ESPN Club at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort will not be reopening after the closure due to COVID-19. We want to thank our guests for their support over the years and we hope to see you again soon.
The ESPN Club was a popular restaurant and bar located in Disney World. The Cake Bake Shop is now in its place.
Why did they close ESPN Zone?
It’s a shame that the new hotel was canceled, as it would have included a sports bar that would have been perfect for ESPN Zone. However, the city of Anaheim and Disney failed to reach an agreement about tax breaks, so the project was ultimately scrapped. Now, the space is just an empty, unused building.
If you are not an athlete or coach participating in an event, you will need to pay an admission fee to enter the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. General admission prices are as follows: Adults (ages 10+): $19.50 Children (ages 3 – 9): $14.50.
Are performers back at Disney BoardWalk?
It’s great to see the BoardWalk street performers back in action! They always add an extra bit of fun and excitement to the atmosphere. I’m not sure if there’s a set performance schedule, but usually they’re out from around 6:30 or 7:00 PM to about 10:00 or 10:30 PM. Keep an eye out for jugglers, magicians, jump ropers, and other talented acts!

What replaced ample hills at BoardWalk

cart. As you can see above, the new shop boasts a fun and brightly colorful exterior. Once inside, there are fun Disney details like a Mickey Mouse sundae on the menu and walls decorated with Duffy the Disney Bear summer outfits.
ESPN Club has been a popular spot at Walt Disney World’s BoardWalk for many years, but it will be replaced by The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers. Rick Schaden, chairman of Consumer Concept Group, said, “We’ll bring a lower price point to an area right now dominated by white tablecloth sit-down restaurants.”
