Why can’t I get the cafe in Animal Crossing?
Brewster and his cafe, The Roost, will appear on the island as part of the museum, and as with other attractions, will need to be unlocked first. To unlock Brewster in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you must first visit Blathers in the museum.
Kapp’n is a character in the Animal Crossing series who debuted in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. He is a green turtle who wears a Hawaiian shirt and drives a boat. He also has a grandson, Lyle, who is also a green turtle.
Kapp’n will take you on an exclusive boat tour to a mystery island if you spend 1,000 Nook Miles. Once you’re on the island, search for Brewster the pigeon. Once you find him, speak to him for a short piece of dialogue, plus a special Gyroid Fragment gift.
Why can’t i get Brewster
Brewster and The Roost are finally in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but they don’t just appear after the game has updated. Nope, you’re going to have to earn the coffee shop and wait for it to open, too — this game is all about patience, after all.
If you want to open The Roost in your town, you’ll need to find and speak to Brewster first. If Blathers doesn’t mention Brewster, it means you haven’t contributed enough to the museum yet – you need to have donated at least one of each type of item before he’ll bring it up.

You can find Brewster on the special, new island tours Kap’n is providing residents. Your island must be rated at least 3 stars to unlock Brewster and The Roost!
What triggers Brewster?
To unlock Brewster and The Roost in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you will need to have a 3* Island and have unlocked KK. Upgrading the Museum up to the Art Exhibit and donating at least one Fossil, Fish, Bug, and Art Piece will also be required. You must be the main owner of the island (not a secondary player on the same Switch) to access these features. More items may be required in order to unlock these features.
To unlock Brewster’s cafe, you need to speak to Blathers at your island’s museum, speak to Kapp’n at the pier, find Brewster on the island, and then return to Blathers.
How do you trigger Blathers Brewster
You must have accomplished the following tasks before you’ll be prompted to look for Brewster:
-Achieve a 3-Star Island Rating
-Unlock the art wing of the museum
-Donate at least one of every kind of every item to the museum
-Have the 20 update or newer version downloaded

You can find Kapp’n at your island’s pier and pay 1,000 Nook Miles to go on a boat tour to Mystery Island. There you should find the barista bird wandering around looking for Gyroids. Speak with him and Brewster will agree to move to your island and set up The Roost.
After your third vacation home, Lottie will be standing outside the building next to the office, to the left. This is an empty facility, and Lottie will say she’d like to begin work on it soon. After decorating your fourth vacation home, Lottie will inform you she’s gotten the permit to turn it into a school.
How do you get Brewster Gyroid?
To get the Brewstoid, you need to have visited Brewster and drank his coffee for 51 days. You cannot drink them all in one day, unfortunately. Once you’ve had 51 cups, he’ll gift you the Gyroid.
Brewster, the owner of The Roost café, will gradually become more friendly with you each time you visit for a cup of coffee. In fact, after enough visits, he may even give you some special prizes as a reward! So keep up the coffee runs to The Roost to keep Brewster happy, and you may be handsomely rewarded in the end.
